Amid the bustle of Shaw Boulevard in Ortigas, a nondescript building blends with all the other gray compounds along the main road. Go up to the 5th floor of Bloomingdale Plaza, however, and you’ll enter an entirely different world via the offices of Travel Factor.
Travel Factor is a travel agency founded in 2006 and is one of the biggest adventure tour providers in the Philippines with more than 80 national and international destinations to offer. But with the unpredictable Manila weather, you never know if the perfect holiday you’ve planned with your family will wind up a vacay of terror.
With their already diverse offers, Travel Factor is distinguishing itself by offering workshops that allow us to explore other arts, crafts, and disciplines: the 101s of calligraphy, cacti and succulents, personal makeup, beer tasting, and ukulele workshops among other things – all of which are going to happen at walking distance of The Vantage, Kapitolyo.
Following our urge to toast, The Start opted for a Wine Tasting workshop instructed by Cavallon Massimo of Il Biancorosso, an importer of Italian wines. The workshop offered a variety of whites and reds, among which were Pinot Grigio, Roero Arneis, Barbera D’ Asti, Valpolicella Ripasso, and Merlot partnered with delicious hors d’oeuvres.
Overall, the session was a many-splendored affair and gave our palate a quick visa-free trip to Italia. It’s most certainly spurred our wanderlust in trying other activities within the vicinity of The Vantage, underscoring how much of a culinary and cultural capital Kapitolyo is. If the unpredictable weather is causing too much vacay planning stress, why not book a workshop instead?
