A season of downpours inspires us to find more ways to raise our spirits. Often, this involves actual spirits—delicious mixed drinks to sip and savor in a cozy space. Consider Rm. 16 a home away from your home, a quick walk from The Vantage at Kapitolyo. Not to mention an escape from the rain, bar fully stocked and music calming to the nerves.
One of Kapitolyo’s best-kept secrets, Rm. 16’s entryway is disguised in the façade of an old-school Coca-Cola vending machine. Already, there is a sense of amusement to the place, perhaps a sign of what to expect when you round up your amigas or kumpadres and usher them into this sleek ode to craft cocktails. To spur conversation, the libations are talking points in themselves: a cucumber caipirinha offers a more refreshing alternative to the boozy Brazilian bar staple, while the house sangria is potent and perfect for larger parties. Like a proper host to a home, Rm. 16’s bartenders also offer to customize your drink based on flavor preferred or ingredient desired. And with such a reasonably priced menu (cocktail prices don’t push beyond 300 pesos), there’s no reason not to explore the rest of the menu.
Of course, the festivities aren’t complete if they aren’t backed up by proper bites. Luckily, the bar’s sister establishment, Titto’s, is the perfect place to sop up the alcohol with hefty servings of flavorful grilled Latin fare. From a lighter ceviche to a clever Mexican-Japanese TACOyaki, the fiesta continues in your belly. You might even want to order another delicious drink to wash it all down. Take that, rainy season.
Rm. 16 and Titto’s are located at 16 East Capitol Drive, Pasig, 1603 Metro Manila
